We are inviting applications from experienced and qualified individuals for the position of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Intern.

Position Summary

The ICT Intern will work under the direct supervision of the Senior ICT Officer and will be the first point of contact for day-to-day technical support to end users.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Working with the Senior ICT Officer to complete delegated tasks duties such as documentation and entry level system deployment tasks
  • Act as first line support to end users for PC, laptops, tablets (hardware and applications)
  • Assist users in network troubleshooting, printer’s setup and upgrade of office application and anti-viruses
  • Interact with networking services, software systems, and applications as appropriate for problem resolution
  • Help triage and where possible resolve issues immediately or escalate as appropriate while maintaining a log of issues raised and identified
  • Software installation on PCs, laptops, tablets for deployment and updating user manuals under guidance of the IT assistants
  • Assist in supporting, training and capacity building users about hardware, and software including operating systems
  • Perform data entry and data management and transfer data from hard copy to soft copy
  • Respond to help desk and service desk requests and follow up request execution to assigned team and maintain accurate information within the IS tracking
  • Perform hardware diagnostics on computers and maintain partnerships with manufacturers and vendors
  • Assist in ensuring effective maintenance of day-to-day system operations, e.g., system files management, account maintenance, archiving, backup and recovery and hardware maintenance

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or any other related field
  • At least 6 months of relevant technical work experience
  • Knowledge of ICT industry and operations, hardware, and software
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of IT business processes, networking and network equipment, windows and Linux platforms
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical users
  • Ability to organize and coordinate log information for easy maintenance and access
  • Ability to initiate projects, draw plan of activities, monitor, and notify supervisor of variance
